Job Description

Our very busy OB/GYN practice needs an experienced Medical Scheduling Receptionist who can manage the administrative duties involved with coordinating patient and physician schedules as well as provide outstanding customer service. We're looking for a professional who believes that patients should be treated as individuals rather than numbers and who understands the value of compassionate service.

The job includes significant amounts of multi-tasking along with the following responsibilities:
  • Answer multi-line phones.
  • Greet patients and assist with check out.
  • Maintain provider schedules and optimize appointment availability. 
  • Process payments from patients for their co-pays, deductibles, and balances.
  • Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on physician/provider requests.
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information. 
  • collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance at all times. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Previous medical office or healthcare scheduling experience preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems (Athena or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Strong phone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage high call volumes while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong work ethic.

Busy OB/GYN practice with 3 locations in the Norfolk, Downtown Norfolk and Chesapeake area. We have 9 physicians, 2 Physician Assistants, 1 Nurse Practitioner, and 5 Certified Nurse Midwives.
